Goshen College Bans National Anthem

By Timothy Dioniso..., on Jun 01, 2011

Do you find the National Anthem "militant" and "offensive"?   At Goshen College in Indiana, the patriotic hymn is put in the same category one would reserve for sexually explicit material.

Administrators, professors and students alike are pushing for the removal of the national anthem from pregame sporting rituals because they claim it conflicts with the school's pacifist Mennonite values.

This is nothing new for the school, as the anthem was only recently incorporated into their pregame rituals in 2008.

The Star Spangled Banner was originally written as a poem by Francis Scott Key who was inspired by the American Victory over the British at Fort McHenry during the War of 1812.

Written as a celebration of American sovereignty, the first section of the poem was put to song and became our national anthem.

Apparently the mere notion of American Exceptionalism is something that conflicts with the politically correct administrators at Goshen College.
